Vancouver is a magical city

Vancouver is a magical city. Every time I visit, I’m reminded what a true gem we have on the west coast of Canada.

On my first trip years ago, I discovered the energy and history of Chinatown. On later visits, I reveled in the Vancouver Art Gallery and wandered through Granville Island. Last summer brought e-bike rides through Stanley Park, time at Kitsilano Beach, beautiful harbour boat trips, and an unforgettable walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

This past weekend, Vancouver worked its magic once again. I packed my winter coat—after all, it was February and -18°C in Ottawa—but I could have left it behind. I did need to buy an umbrella, but the rain felt like a fair trade for +10°C weather.

The weekend highlights included a deeply relaxing Japanese head spa treatment, a lively points-and-travel meetup at Rouge Bar & Eatery, and a leisurely walk back to the lovely Rosewood Hotel Georgia. Along the way, I stumbled upon a street busker shredding on a Flying V guitar, and a few blocks later, a classical violinist filling the night with music.

It was the perfect reminder: we should never forget how many wonderful, memorable experiences await us through domestic travel right here in Canada.
